Former WBC female light-flyweight champion Kim Clavel returns to the ring on Thursday, November 14, when she faces Mayela Perez at the Cabaret du Casino in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Clavel, once an undefeated rising star in women’s boxing, has faced challenges in recent years, suffering two losses, including a controversial split decision against IBF and WBO light-flyweight world champion Evelin Bermudez. Many observers, including Clavel herself, believed she had done enough to win the fight, but the judges scored it in favor of Bermudez, a decision that left the boxing world buzzing.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Clavel put her boxing career on hold to work as a nurse, dedicating herself to caring for those affected by the virus. Her selfless actions were widely recognized, and she was honored with the 2020 Pat Tillman ESPN ESPY Award for her extraordinary service and commitment to others in their time of need.
Clavel looks to regain her momentum and continue her journey toward the top of women’s boxing.
The event is promoted by Groupe Yvon Michel and will feature a stacked card of Canadian talent including local favorite Marie-Pier Houle taking on Anissa Benyoub in the co-main event.
